Carolyn & DeWitt Stone Study Abroad Scholarship

This merit-based endowed scholarship is designed to encourage Lander students to study abroad. Eligible students must have completed at least one academic year at Lander, and they should hold a GPA of 3.2 or greater. Endowment income is to be used only for the direct support of students who study abroad for academic credit. At least 75% of the scholarship’s annual income must go to assist students who enroll in twelve (12) or more hours of credit at a university abroad during a regular (Fall and Spring) semester. Up to 25% of the scholarship’s annual income may be used to support students who enroll in at least six (6) credit hours in a summer program offered by a foreign university. Qualifying students will be presented to the Vice President for Academic Affairs who will make an award based upon an interview and a determination of serious academic purpose. The VPAA may delegate the selection process to a group of three or four tenured professors. Each award should be at least $800. If no applicants are judged worthy, no award should be made and undistributed income should be used to build endowment. None of the endowment income is to be used for study abroad administrative purposes.
