Margaret B. Tinsley Scholarship
Established by her family in 2002 in honor of Margaret Bailey Tinsley, Class of 1937. Before retiring, Mrs. Tinsley worked at The Index-Journal and WCRS. Mrs. Tinsley received the Lander University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award in 1992, which recognizes alumni for their outstanding participation in civic, cultural, educational, and/or church activities. In 2002, she was once again honored by the Alumni Association as the recipient of Grace Iler Norman Award, which recognizes significant alumni achievement within the Alumni Association and Lander. Mrs. Tinsley and her family also endowed the W.D. Tinsley Scholarship in memory of her husband, who was a trustee and chairman of the Lander Board of Trustees. Scholarship will be awarded annually from fund income to a student majoring in humanities. Recipient will be selected by the Division of Humanities. Scholarship is renewable up to three years provided recipient maintains at least a 3.0 GPA and continues study toward a degree in humanities.
