Pilot Club of Greenwood Scholarship
The Pilot Club of Greenwood, South Carolina established in April, 2000, an endowed scholarship at Lander University in memory of Ida Mae Poore, initiator of the Club’s lifeline project, Caroline Beaver, first Chair of the Lifeline Committee, and M.F. Lide, who worked diligently on this project; and in honor of Doris McKinney and Genevieve Watkins who served on the first Lifeline Committee and who tirelessly supported its mission. The Scholarship is to encourage students into a field specializing in the treatment of brain disorders and/or brain injury (neuro, psych, stroke, cancer; to include promoting brain safe practices and prevention). The scholarship will be awarded to a junior, senior or graduate nursing student, who demonstrates such plans and who maintains at least a 2.8 GPA. The scholarship will be continued throughout their Lander University experience provided the student maintains the required GPA. Selection of the recipient will be made by the faculty of the School of Nursing. Request that the scholarship recipient attend one of the monthly Pilot Club meetings to introduce themselves and present their nursing career goals to the members.
