Carolyn & DeWitt Stone Study Abroad Scholarship

Merit based not need based. Endowment income is to be used only for the direct support of students who study abroad for academic credit.At least 75% of annual income must go to assist students who enroll for 12 or more hrs of credit at a university abroad during regular (Fall and Spring) semester. Up to 25% of income for students who enroll for at least six hrs credit in a summer program offered by a foreign university. Every student must have completed at least one yr of work at Lander and hold a GPA of 3.2 or greater. Student should apply to the VP for Academic Affairs who should make award based upon an interview and a determination of serious academic purpose. The VPAA may delegate the selection process to a group of three or four tenured professors. Each award should be at least $800. If no applicants are judged worthy, no award should be made and undistributed income should be used to build endowment. None of the endowment income is to be used for study abroad administrative purposes.
